The internet is mad at Xbox head Phil Spencer after Microsoft Gaming lays off 1,900

The ones that matter don’t seem mad enough. Or even care enough to push back at Microsoft. Many know I’ve said for years how Microsoft was a negative influence on the industry. Even got silenced for days and weeks for stating exactly what Microsoft is and their strategy in the comments. And their only reasons of joining the industry were to change the game industry into what they wanted it to be. Which is a reoccurring payment without an option. And to stop Sony from owning the living room because they believed Sony’s push in computing and popularity with gamers, would turn them away from Windows.

Paying for online, trying to force a camera for advertising, pushing ads on the dash, trying to push an all digital future. Which many of us said was only delayed as Microsoft would definitely try again with a 2.0. Their leaked 720 roadmap stated exactly where they were going to do. Trying to influence and groom gamers and developers to not own but to rent from their services and their servers. To use gaming as they really don’t care about the games. Only to use games as a tool to get those payments going. They don’t care what game it is.

Every move they made and make is to EMBRACE, EXTEND and EXTINGUISH. Until they are unopposed to do what they want and control what you have. Nintendo and Sony don’t mind gamers buying physical, trading in physical or buying digital. They don’t mind if you lend it to a friend because that friend may go out and buy a console themselves and influence other gamers to get one too. Microsoft has tried to kill used games and are trying to kill physical games. The other companies haven’t.

Microsoft has tried to get fans and influencers to push the narrative that they are pro consumer while they slowly try and control everything. When they didn’t do what was necessary to gain momentum, which is to create games at the same level or better than their competitors, because they have billions of dollars and are worth TRILLIONS to do so, they turn around and buy up the industry for their lack of effort to control the very franchises gamers play. And in doing so, have killed jobs in the process. Sure. Developers close from time to time because they messed up or didn’t gain any sales. But when you kill jobs that are for the physical games, that has nothing to do with creating games. That’s to kill used games or kill retailers who sell physical or used games.

They never take risks, they never innovate. They only copy. Every move Sony made from controller features to working with IBM, Nvidia, AMD, etc. Microsoft would go where Sony went. Copy Sony’s features. If Microsoft would have gained market leader control during the 360 era, they would have brought the end of gamer ownership a lot sooner. Western games and FPS shooters would be the only games played.

“Sony’s games are one and done. Japanese games are hentai games. What’s wrong with games being connected to the Internet? I have fast Internet. Everyone has it./S Digital games are so convenient. I don’t buy physical games. Physical games can break. Who wants to play with a headset on your face.” Sony has a monopoly on high end gaming. They keep pushing for exclusives.” The Xbox fan mentality.

Microsoft are shady and a scourge on the industry. And I’ll keep saying it again and again. They never put in the work and are now putting their own workers out of work. And only work for themselves and not gamers or the industry.
