Nintendo Direct February 2024: How To Watch, Start Time, And What To Expect

February 21, 2024

A Nintendo Direct in February has become a longrunning tradition for the company over the last couple of years, and that streak is being kept alive with a brand-new broadcast on February 21. This is the first Nintendo Direct in several months, and while it’s not the longest showcase on upcoming Switch games, you can expect a healthy number of announcements for upcoming titles set to be released in the first half of the year.

How to watch the Nintendo Direct

Like previous broadcasts, the Nintendo Direct presentation will be available to stream via Nintendo’s official YouTube and Twitch channels.

Nintendo Direct start time

Grab a cup of coffee and a comfy seat, because this event is kicking off early. The new Nintendo Direct will begin on February 21 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET and is scheduled to run for 25 minutes.

What to expect

Nintendo says this Direct will be focused on games from its third-party partners, so there likely won’t be any updates on long-in-development projects like Metroid Prime 4. Instead, you can probably expect a selection of cozy indie games and bigger projects like a complete edition of Shin Megami Tensei V, which hasn’t been formally announced but was recently rated in Korea. Hollow Knight fans are hoping to see some mention of Silksong–it has been half a decade since Team Cherry announced the expansion–and news on a few more ports wouldn’t be too surprising.

The real draw for this Nintendo Direct could be the reveal of which Xbox games will be headed to the Switch. There have been leaks and rumors for weeks now, and with Microsoft confirming that four of its Xbox games will be going multiplatform, new reports claim that Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment will be the first titles headed to Switch.

Will the Switch 2 be announced?

With Nintendo, you can never be certain of its plans, but a Switch 2 announcement does seem highly unlikely. New leaks have claimed that the console has been pushed back from a late 2024 release to Q1 2025, and if that is the case, don’t expect any news on the Switch successor for quite a while yet.
