Battle royales are on their way out imo. Although the finals is definitely one of the most polished BR experiences to date, the formula is just stale at this point.
Same with survival games. People are realizing that the majority of the gameplay loop is just boring.
Too much downtime, where half the time you’re waiting for your team mate to die already so you can re-qeue.
Survival games require hours of repetitive boring tasks before you can get to the “fun part”.
Maybe the genre just doesn’t click for me, but I would rather play competitive rounds back to back like in Counter-Strike instead of dying from an unseen sniper after spending 30 minutes looting.
