Let’s just ignore the bullshit that is proactively being fed to people every time a new generation is released and let’s just consider it under common sense.
If it was 200-300% more expensive to develop a game how is it the most lucrative business industry in the world. Ignoring porn. If they’re not making any more money but are spending 200-300% more to make the product in the first place. How would it be physically possible to be the biggest industry in the world???
Now we’ve dealt with the giant elephant in the room let’s move onto other cases.
Why is the movie industry trying to merge into the gaming industry??
Why is the music industry trying to merge into the gaming industry??
If it’s a fundamentally flawed and negative equity business why do rich successful businesses and people want to be part of it so badly? How does the industry as a whole increase year on year??
More and more game engines and assets are becoming free. Not your run of the mill crap engines but the top tier engines. With the 9th gen assets are now categorised across all media so they can be swapped instantly between movies, games, CGI. No altering to assets it will be streamed in the same quality to each with out any work needed. It’s actually getting cheaper to make games.
You’re now seeing single man developers creating AAA looking games for next gen consoles. That they have made start to finish, single handedly.
As a civilisation we need to stop ignoring common sense because people with an agenda for greed tell us to ignore common sense and what we witness with our own eyes.
This happens every generation they try it on and when they fail. It all suddenly gets forgotten about and is suddenly a none issue until next time they get the opportunity to try and push it.
