PlayStation State of Play: How to watch and what to expect

E3 is dead, but video game companies will still take some time this summer to show us what’s coming soon — and that’s something to get excited about. First up: PlayStation!

As announced on its company blog, Sony is holding a “State of Play” on Thursday, May 30. The best part is that you can watch it all live. Here’s how.

PlayStation State of Play: What to expect

The good news is that Sony’s blog post gave us a tiny bit in terms of what to expect from the show — but “a tiny bit” are the operative words here.

According to Sony, the stream will be around 30 minutes long and features precisely 14 games for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2. That’s all we know for sure. Everything else we can predict either comes from common sense, leaks, or pure speculation.

For instance, the French publication Dealabs reported (and IGN corroborated) that a new game in the Astro Bot series of cutesy mascot platformers is in the works, and will very likely be announced during this stream. Astro’s Playroom, the roughly 2-hour tech demo that comes pre-installed on PS5 consoles, is still one of the platform’s best games, so this is exciting.

Aside from that, it wouldn’t be shocking to hear more about the upcoming remake of Until Dawn, one of the only first-party Sony titles we know for sure is coming this year. Pretty much everything else is up in the air, which could either make this stream very exciting or very disappointing. Either way, you better tune in.
