Lego C-3PO Building Set Preorders Are Live, Looks Like An Oscar Statuette

Star Wars is full of terrific robots, but C-3PO is arguably the most polarizing of the bunch. Some fans love the protocol droid, while others think he’s annoying in all six million forms of communication he possesses. No matter your feelings on C-3PO, there’s no denying he’s one of the most important droids in The Skywalker Saga. And soon, you’ll be able to build a statue version of C-3PO with a new Lego Star Wars set. Designed to be a faithful replica, the C-3PO set comes with over 1,100 pieces and is available to preorder now for $140 ahead of its August 1 release. The C-3PO Lego set also has the distinction of being the Lego set that best resembles an Oscar statuette.

Some of the other authentic touches include articulated limbs to help him recreate iconic poses, his signature silver leg from his Original Trilogy appearances, an information plaque, and a C-3PO minifigure. The finished build looks very similar to its big screen inspiration, right down to the haughty body language used whenever it introduced itself as being an expert in human-cyborg relations. Once fully assembled, it’ll stand an impressive 15 inches tall.

If you’re getting a C-3PO Lego figure, you will of course want to pair it with an R2-D2. The partner droid is in scale with C-3PO, and this model is a terrific display after you finish building it. It comes with R2-D2 and Darth Malak minifigures, has a 360-degree rotating head, a detachable third leg for mobility, an attachable periscope, and attachable tools.

Alternatively, you can build an entire squad of Lego astromech figures for your shelf. This set includes R2 and Chopper from Star Wars Rebels, as well as several other cute droids. They come with a bunch of accessories as well, and if you’ve ever wanted to put a cowboy hat on R2, you can do just that with this building kit.
