Why was Steve Harvey’s face light beamed over Atlanta’s sky?

It’d be pretty shocking to look up into the night sky and see a glowing visage of Steve Harvey. Yet that is apparently what happened for some folks in Atlanta. Obviously the internet, in turn, loved it.

The whole thing started with a tweet from Andscape senior writer David Dennis Jr.

“There’s a light projection of Steve Harvey over Atlanta right now and I have no clue why,” Dennis Jr. tweeted, along with a photo that’s now been viewed more than seven million times.

Now, let’s be clear, Mashable has not yet been able to officially confirm this light show featuring a glowing Steve Harvey actually occurred on Friday night. The image from Dennis Jr. appears to be the only one that’s made its way to the wider internet.

Though it does seem likely real, for a few reasons. One: Dennis Jr. is a journalist at a respected outlet and this would be a super strange thing on which to waste one’s reputation. Two: The sleuths at Reddit noted there was an event called Invest Fest in Atlanta this weekend that featured Harvey as a speaker. And three: Posts from Invest Fest show a drone presentation, though nothing featuring the image of Harvey.

Regardless of the authenticity, the internet had some great jokes.

So there was (maybe) a massive electric Steve Harvey in the Atlanta sky thanks to drones. You can say a lot about living in the future — good and bad — but it sure is weird.
