The Elder Scrolls: Castles Is Out Now, For Real This Time

After surprisingly appearing almost a year ago, The Elder Scrolls: Castles is officially available now on mobile devices. The spiritual successor to Fallout Shelter sees players overseeing their kingdom where one day in real life equates to a full year in the game.

Last month, Bethesda revealed the release date for The Elder Scrolls: Castles, which can be downloaded on iOS or Google Play. In addition, pre-registration was open at that time, with people who did so able to claim free rewards for the mobile title. The list of goodies contains: 100 gems, a Dynasty XP boost for 10 minutes, legendary pack, three banner decorations, and the legendary subject, Ulfric Stormcloak. Bethesda notes players must reach Dynasty level 25 before October 10 to get these gifts.

Originally, The Elder Scrolls: Castles released out of nowhere on Google Play in September 2023. It was basically shadow-dropped and marked as an early-access title without any sort of official announcement. Then, in January, Bethesda oddly unveiled The Elder Scrolls: Castles as a brand-new game without acknowledging its previous availability.

The Elder Scrolls: Castles has players making serious decisions regarding rationing for their kingdom as well as fun choices regarding the placement of decorations for their stronghold. It’s the first new mobile game in the beloved RPG series since The Elder Scrolls: Blades came out in 2020 (it also arrived on Nintendo Switch).

Meanwhile, Bethesda is also working on The Elder Scrolls 6, which doesn’t have a release date yet.
