Metro Books And Games Are Steeply Discounted Ahead Of Metro Awakening’s Launch Later This Year

Metro Awakening made a splash during the latest State of Play, with a new trailer showing off the atmospheric stealth VR experience for PSVR2, Meta Quest, and Steam VR launching on November 7. Metro Awakening is the latest entry in the post-apocalyptic franchise that spans games, books, and more. If you’re interested in learning more about the Metro universe ahead of Awakening’s arrival, then consider diving into the books that inspired the game series.

Written by Dmitry Glukhovsky, the series begins with the lengthy Metro 2033. Clocking in at over 450 pages, it gives you a closer look at the life of Artyom and the post-apocalyptic world of Moscow. With what’s left of humanity living underground, Artyom will venture through the tunnels and try to warn the rest of the community about a new threat that threatens to wipe out what’s left of his community.

Metro 2033, Metro 2035, and Metro 2034 novels

Metro 2034 continues the tale, while the trilogy concludes with 2035. The novels are an excellent companion for the video games, as they give you a chance to learn more about the world you’ll see in Awakening and provide extensive background details for many of its characters. There’s also a cool Metro 2034: Illustrated Edition and a graphic novel up for grabs if you want something unique.

Aside from the above books, you’ll find a few Audible-exclusive audiobooks. The cheapest way to add these to your collection is to sign up for Audible, as you’ll be given a credit that can be used to pick up one of the below audiobooks. You can then purchase additional credits for $15 each–which is much cheaper than simply buying the audiobooks outright, as each one costs over $20.

Metro Audiobooks

For additional stories by Metro author Dmitry Glukhovsky, you can check out Crime and Punishment: Read By Robots for $19 and Future for $25. The former is a weird take on Fyodor Dostoevsky’s iconic book, while the latter explores a utopian society where people no longer die.

If you want to catch up on the Metro games before the release of Awakening, you’ll find the Metro Redux Bundle on sale for just $2.39 (was $30). This gets you Steam keys for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux, and it’s an easy recommendation for anyone yet to play the hit games. You can also pick them up individually.
