Nintendo Switch Online Adds A Previously Unlocalized F-Zero Game On October 11

Nintendo is adding two more classic games to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service next week. F-Zero: GP Legend and F-Zero Climax will both join the Game Boy Advance library on October 11.

Originally released in 2003 and 2004, respectively, GP Legend and Climax are the final two F-Zero games released for the Game Boy Advance. In addition to the standard Grand Prix and Time Attack modes, GP Legend boasts a story mode and an extensive roster of racers.

F-Zero Climax, meanwhile, has previously never been localized, making this the first time it will officially be available outside of Japan. It features a course editor and is notable for being the final new installment in the series. Following its release, the F-Zero series remained dormant for more than 19 years until F-Zero 99 arrived in 2023.

As mentioned, both games will be available through Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pack plan, a premium tier that grants subscribers additional benefits, including access to classic Nintendo 64 games and select DLC expansions for some Switch titles. An individual membership costs $50 USD a year, while a family plan costs $80 USD and covers up to eight Nintendo Accounts.

That’s not the only news for F-Zero fans. The aforementioned F-Zero 99 is also receiving a free 1.5 update, which introduces a new Grand Prix league, five additional tracks, and new machine decals. F-Zero 99 is free to download for all Nintendo Switch Online members.
