Adobe exec Scott Belsky departs for indie movie studio A24

Adobe’s chief strategy officer Scott Belsky announced this week that he will be joining A24, the independent movie studio behind “Civil War,” “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” and many more titles.

Belsky first joined Adobe in 2012 through the acquisition of Behance, leaving briefly in 2016 to become a VC at Benchmark but eventually returning Adobe, where he also served as executive vice president of design and emerging products.

A24, meanwhile, was founded in 2012 and quickly attracted a devoted following for “elevated” horror films like “Hereditary,” while releasing critically acclaimed movies in a variety of genres and even winning two Best Picture Oscars for “Everything Everywhere All At Once” and “Moonlight.”

However, the studio may not be satisfied with indie-scale hits — it’s been signaling bigger commercial ambitions by raising big funding rounds at a reported $3.25 billion valuation.

In a post on X, Belsky said he’s joining A24 as a partner, where he will be “kicking off a few special projects,” adding that he’s “eager to get to work w/ my new partners supporting the world’s best storytellers at A24.”
