Shuhei Yoshida Reveals Jim Ryan Offered Him Choice Between Indie Role Or Leaving PlayStation

There it is. After all the hard work by Kaz Harai, Jack Tretton, Andrew House, etc., friggin Jim Ryan. What really happened with the MLB deal? Did the MLB really threaten him with MLB license for The Show? Everyone just kissed his butt, afraid they’d get fired, and what else happened? He made the decision to port games to PC, a move Nintendo hasn’t even made, and Nintendo has the most to lose is the gaming industry were to go bottom up. Microsoft keeps making office software, Sony….. Does everything from end-to-end from music to movies to PC. Nintendo does what…. Makes toys? A Japanese Hasbro….. Well, a sad excuse, but PlayStation went the PC route when they didn’t even have too. Xbox was swirling the toilet bowl, they couldn’t think of anything else. Live Service Games, and in comes Herman Hulst that kissed Jim Ryans butt to move up the ranks and then went right along with him making things worse.

I’m not convinced either the new Japanese CEO is going to do any better. Probably just as clueless. What were they thinking going to PC, and wimping out porting Lego Horizon to Switch??? Why? DO PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND XBOX ISNT SEEING THE FUTURE, THEYRE REACTING TO A GRAVE THEY DUG THEY CANT CLIMB OUT OF! They pissed off consumers, lies are near impossible to come back from when your caught and they were caught multiple times. They don’t know what else to do and they don’t have the knowhow to fix it, because Xbox and Microsoft don’t have those kinds of minds. They’re followers, not industry leaders.

PlayStation is made up of some of the best minds of the Tom Kalinske SEGA era that started at SEGA and went to various positions within PlayStation. Mark Cerney? Former SEGA. Evan Wells (Co-President of Naughty Dog) came from SEGA that worked on ToeJam and Earl. PlayStation’s very first CEO Steve Race was over marketing for SEGA. Scott Rodhe started out a Game Tester in QA for SEGA and is now one of the most beloved Vice Presidents of PlayStation talked about by PlayStation first-parties most creative minds.

Jim Ryan couldve pulled a Don Mattrick. He just wanted power and it’s likely the people had spoken just in time to get him to retire early. Herman Hulst was already in flux and is still a problem. Send him back to Guerilla Games, he did great there pushing technology in games. Once his head was inflated and they got a British CEO, then it was buddying up with their own kind, but look what they’ve done. This new Japanese guy, he’s a wimp! He’s not aggressive, he’s a wuss.

PlayStation needs a shake-up and they need to go back to strengths and faith in their own hardware. They don’t need PC. They never did
