That’s because they have to support as many platforms and PC ranges as possible to maximize profits, especially after all the delays and development issues. Also, they’re probably going to be porting to Switch 2 anyway, so it makes sense to have a handheld optimized version ready to go using Steam Deck as the target hardware considering has the “largest install base” currently lol, and it should be in Switch 2 ballpark performance range.
That being said this actually looks like the first good AC game in a long time, so hopefully for Ubisoft it does really well for them, or their studios could start seeing some closures and the company and its IPs could become the next major buyout.
