Respawn’s Star Wars Strategy Game Will Be Revealed In April

Star Wars Celebration in Japan will be where the fun begins for an untitled strategy game from developer Bit Reactor and producer Respawn Entertainment. The turn-based tactics game set within the Star Wars universe will get its own panel at the event on April 19, promising to show off “a first look.”

The official Star Wars Celebration panel schedule revealed this morsel of information about the strategy game. It was over three years ago when EA announced that Apex Legends studio Respawn was teaming up with a new developer named Bit Reactor to create a Star Wars tactics game. Little has been divulged since then, though Bit Reactor confirmed it was still in the works last year after a Star Wars FPS from Respawn was reportedly canceled.

The Star Wars strategy game from developer Bit Reactor and producer Respawn Entertainment will get its official unveiling at Star Wars Celebration next month in Japan.

This will be Bit Reactor’s first game. However, the studio touts quite the pedigree, saying on its website that the team has “collectively developed some of the most successful games you’ve heard of, such as XCOM, Civilization, Gears of War, and Elders Scrolls Online.”

This Star Wars strategy game is the only video game listed that will receive a panel at Star Wars Celebration. That said, Disney and Lucasfilm have other titles in the pipeline, such as Star Wars Eclipse from Quantic Dream and reports of a third Star Wars Jedi entry. Meanwhile, Star Wars Hunters will shut down later this year.

Last month, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy was reported to be retiring, which could lead to changes in what Star Wars games get made going forward.
