InZoi is a new life-sim game that finally brings some competition for The Sims, which is available in early access on March 27. Before you get started with the game, there are a few options you might not want to miss during the character creation step, especially if you plan on having your character flirt and look for love. That’s because some key character traits can’t be changed later, so if you get them wrong, you’ll need to start over from the beginning. Here we guide you through InZoi’s character creation, including selecting a gender identity and date preferences.
Customizing your character profile
Basic information
The “Profile” section of the character creation is information that can’t be changed once you create your character and advance through the game.
This starts with basic information: Name, age group, and gender.
How to change your gender identity and dating preferences
Just to the right of the gender selection is an icon that looks like pencil and paper, as shown in the image above. This is easily overlooked, but it’s the section where you choose your character’s crucial information for gender identity and dating.
If you miss this step, you’ll be assigned a straight, cis-gendered character, and it can make for some awkward encounters if you’re planning on flirting and romancing queer characters.
This lets you choose between genders and non-binary, whether your character is interested in romantic relationships, and who your character can be attracted to.
For the attraction, you can choose all that apply:
Choose a Trait
Much like The Sims, you’ll select a trait for your character’s personality. The chosen trait can affect your character’s emotions and needs that arise from different actions in the game. This also can’t be changed once you’ve advanced beyond the character creation menus, so you’ll want to choose wisely.
There are a total of 18 traits to choose from, such as Dreamer, Leader, Scholar, Adventurer, Socialite, and Perfectionist.
Selecting a Desired Life (Optional)
A completely optional part of the creation process is the ability to choose a “Desired Life” for your character. This can add an additional layer to your character’s life, allowing them to have clearer guidelines in how you want them to live, achieve goals, and such.
For example, if you want your character to have a passion for the arts, choosing the Life of Creativity Desired Life will give them the desire to express their feeling and personality through art. This is great for those who want to be painters, performers, or musicians. It also aligns really well with the Dreamer and Visionary traits.
Life goals often change in real life, and InZoi lets you swap for a different Desired Life at any time.
Again, this is optional and you don’t have to choose a Desired Life at all. You can leave this blank to freestyle through your character’s journey.
Customizing appearance
The final step of the character creation process lets you fully customize your character’s appearance. InZoi boasts over 250 customization options to make your characters feel unique. You can adjust everything from facial features and physique to clothing, accessories, and customizable nail art.
Outfits can be customized and set for various occasions, including evening wear, school outfits, pajamas, and seasonal looks for warm and cold weather.
