After a long delay and several months of beta testing, Samsung began rolling out Android 15-based One UI 7 for the Galaxy S24 series in mid-April. Unfortunately, just days later, the company halted the rollout due to a major bug that prevented some users from unlocking their phones after installing One UI 7. Samsung has now seemingly addressed the issue and released a revised One UI 7 build for the Galaxy S24.

A new BYD9 firmware is rolling out for the Galaxy S24 in South Korea, weighing around 292 MB. This build is only for S24 units that installed the previous stable One UI 7 firmware. Samsung’s changelog only mentions stability improvements and bug fixes, not directly addressing the issue that caused the company to pull the initial stable One UI 7 build the first time around.
You can manually grab the new build on your phone from Settings > Software update > Download and install.
Samsung should commence a wider release of the fixed One UI 7 build to more countries in the coming weeks. After the fumble with the original release firmware, the company may adopt a cautious, wait-and-see approach this time.
If your Galaxy S24 is still running Android 14, it should receive a bigger Android 15 OTA update in a few days.
Given that Samsung beta tested One UI 7 for months before its release, the lock screen bug should not have slipped past its testing, especially since it locked users out of their phones.
Second time’s the charm?
Along with the S24, Samsung had also rolled out the stable One UI 7 update for the Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 in Korea. So, a revised build for these devices should also go live later today or tomorrow.
Based on Samsung’s original release timeline, the Galaxy S23, Z Fold 5, and Flip 5 should also receive their stable One UI 7 update later this month. Given the missteps with the initial release firmware, though, Samsung may delay their stable One UI 7 build by a few days or weeks. Older premium and midrange Galaxy phones will only get the stable Android 15 update in May.
