Skyrim Grandma Ends Streaming Retirement To Play Oblivion Remastered

June 2, 2025

Shirley Curry aka Skyrim Grandma made a name for herself in the gaming community by sharing videos of herself playing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. However, Curry cited boredom as one of her reasons for ending her streaming career last year. But now, Curry has cut short her retirement to play the recently released remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Curry shared her first Oblivion video two days ago, followed by a second video a day later. While Curry was comfortable with playing Skyrim, she is admittedly still learning how to adapt to Oblivion Remastered. Fortunately, the comments on her videos include some genuine attempts to help her get through the parts of the game she hasn’t mastered yet. Curry has acknowledged those tips and thanked her followers.

At 89 years old, Curry may be the oldest video game streamer. Her fandom seems to be largely confined to the Elder Scrolls games, as she’s confirmed that she has no intention of ever playing Starfield, despite the game also coming from Bethesda, the publisher of the Elder Scrolls series.

In recognition of her dedication to Skyrim, Bethesda invited Curry to lend her likeness to the company in 2019 so that she may be featured as a NPC in The Elder Scrolls VI. That long-awaited sequel still appears to years away and it doesn’t currently have a release date.

Oblivion Remastered is already the third-highest-selling game of the year, with only Monster Hunter Wilds and Assassin’s Creed Shadows ahead of it in the No. 1 and No. 2 slots.
