Don’t fear the sandworm
Easily the biggest threat at all times in Dune: Awakening is the sandworm. This mighty, underground behemoth of an enemy is always lurking beneath the sand, and whenever you make your way across the desert, you’ll feel the vibration of the monster.
While you want to make sure you’re not dilly-dallying in the sand between rocky formations, the sandworm will usually have a hard time killing you as long as you’re sprinting. For starters, the sandworm initially pops up from the sand to make a dramatic entrance. Then, several seconds after this, the worm will start to chase after you with its mouth open. However, as soon as you reach the outskirts of a rocky formation, it will stop chasing you.
In nearly every situation, you can make it across the desert without the sandworm even making an appearance. So, with this in mind, don’t worry too much about venturing out beyond the safety of the rocks in Dune: Awakening. Of course, still be mindful of the vibration meter on your screen when going across the desert. The sandworm can still kill you if you’re not paying close attention to where you’re going.
