Red Dead Redemption’s John Marston Actor Teases “Exciting News” Coming Soon

Actor Rob Wiethoff, who played John Marston in Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption series, has teased that he has “such exciting news” to share as soon as this week.

During a recent livestream where he was playing the 2010 original Red Dead Redemption, Wiethoff said of the forthcoming news, “I can’t share it with you now. It’s absolutely killing me.”

“I can’t wait for you to know what’s going on. And that’s all I can say. I cannot think about anything else. Especially playing this game [Red Dead Redemption]. I can’t think of anything else,” he added.

Many are taking this to mean that there will be some kind of Red Dead-related news coming up, but that’s not a sure thing. Wiethoff also has an OnlyFans, so he may be hyping that or anything else. Whatever the case, he said the announcement will “definitely” come before Friday, June 20.

Wiethoff’s tease comes amid a new report that suggested Rockstar is bringing Red Dead Redemption II to the Switch 2 and launching new versions of the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The game has sold more than 74 million copies, making it one of the top 10 best-selling video games ever. Take-Two’s top boss, Strauss Zelnick, previously said he was a “big believer” in the Switch 2 and that his company would support the system with many games.

Meanwhile, Rockstar bringing GTA 5 to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2022 helped the game continue to sell, so it would follow that something similar could happen if Red Dead Redemption II gets a current-gen update. The game originally launched in 2018 for Xbox One and PS4.

There are also reports of a GTA 4 remaster for current-gen consoles. Rockstar’s next big brand-new release is GTA 6, which launches in May 2026.
