YouTube TV is offering deep discounts to win back NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers

YouTube offers a solid alternative to traditional cable TV. The streaming giant’s YouTube TV, not to be confused with the YouTube app for TVs, costs $83/month, but offers access to live TV from 100+ channels.

The base plan offers up to six household accounts with support for up to 3 concurrent streams and unlimited DVR space. Users have the option to go for add-ons, like the NFL’s Sunday Ticket, which includes all out-of-market Sunday games, but that comes at an extra cost.

The end of an era for DirecTV

Adding Sunday Ticket to your subscription costs an additional $31.50/mo if you’re a returning user, driving the overall cost up to 114.5 per month. This prompts users to reconsider the subscription, especially after the season has ended or if their favorite team is out of playoff contention.

The streaming giant knows that, and it is now offering some users heavy discounts to entice them back.

Users are getting $48 to $96 off

As highlighted by user VHBlazer on Reddit (via 9to5Google), YouTube is targeting users who’ve previously canceled their YouTube TV Sunday Ticket subscription with some interesting offers. According to the user, they “cancel [their] YTTV after March madness every year.”

The Reddit user reported that YouTube was offering them a substantial $96 discount on NFL Sunday Ticket, bringing the yearly cost of the subscription down to $282, from $378. Multiple other users confirmed that they got an identical discount.

I’ve been waiting for this. Active YTTV subscriber and cancelled my ST renewal last month waiting for an offer. Jumped on this as soon as I got the email. Happy to not have to think about it again for 12 months.

The promotion, however, doesn’t seem to be the same across the board. Some users commented that they’re only getting $48 off. The discrepancy’s cause is currently uncertain.

The streaming giant hasn’t officially acknowledged the promotion, so the best course of action for former subscribers is to check their email inboxes regularly for the offer.
