I don’t agree with the argument that we as gamers are entitled to free upgrades!
I agree that if a game comes out late in the generation of a console, that the game should be playable on the new machine/ps5. As far as I’ve read so far on the upcoming console, and i’m sure it’ll be the same with microsoft’s machine too,the games of the last 6 months or so will be playable on the newer console as well, with more to follow from the playstation 4’s back catalogue. Sony seem responsible for the most part here to allow the backwards compatability to happen here.
BUT, we as gamers are not intitled to free upgrades of the same game. These upgrades require more work, more programming, more money thrown at each game to make an upgrade possible to make it shine above the previous generations copy of that same game.
Everywhere in life we are given choices to upgrade our options, food some restaurants are better than others, electronics with more wow factors for the upgraded model, fuel at the bouser being premium unleaded over unleaded and it goes on and on with millions of other things out there. The premium versions & items in life cost more because there is more to it and ususlly costs more to produce that shinier upmarket item.
Games and developers are no different. We are asking for a better product with framerates, graphics, content, extras etc then we should pay that little more for it.
I ask this of any business owner out there who supplies 2 or more products that are similar in, size, shape, model, function etc say furniture, food, phones, fuel, tv’s, speakers… the list is endless.. I bet the price is different on each product.
