As part of the July Nintendo Direct, Square Enix announced Octopath Traveler 0. The newest entry in the HD-2D series launches for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4. It remains to be seen if the game is headed to other platforms beyond Switch. You can check out the reveal trailer below.
It’s called Octopath Traveler 0 because players “start from zero” and go on a quest for “restoration and retribution.” Along the way, players will “confront powerful villains and rebuild your hometown.”
The original Octopath Traveler came out in 2018 for Switch before leaping to PC in 2019, Stadia in 2020, Xbox in 2021, and then PlayStation in 2024. Octopath Traveler II was released in 2023.
The July Nintendo Direct included other announcements, including Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection and Once Upon a Katamari, along with details about the Switch versions of Madden 26, Apex Legends, and Just Dance 2026, among others.
