It’s a good thing that’s not actually what they are doing.
After reading several articles and interviews from mostly Japanese sites it’s become 100% clear what is going on.
I think people forget that was a Sony investor meeting and not a PlayStation investor meeting. What is actually happening is that Sony in the 80’s was the Walkman company almost 100% of their business portfolio was hardware manufacturing Sony obviously well known for their TV’s and Audio hardware has for decades been shedding off the hardware segment of the business, things like VAIO computer have gone by the way side a lot of their retail AV products that used to be the hallmark of the business have become difficult to maintain profit on same with semiconductors.
While today more than 60% of Sony’s total revenue comes from media creation and sales things like Crunchy Roll their movie studios their music production as well as the video games. What Sony is doing is moving heavily to capitalize on creation by focusing on and unifying their different creation forms. One of the biggest pushes is into Anime, brought about largely by two big recent partnerships their partnership with Kadokawa and more recently Namco Bandai as well as owning the largest Anime sales site Crunchy Roll as well as some of the largest regional Anime websites.
Looking forward to PS6 and beyonds, games I would say what you can expect is that future games published by Sony will be based on Anime they create and market in film on Crunchy Roll to be adapted to games which will likely all be in simultaneous production.
