Hear the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX’s 702-HP V-8 Fire Up, Roar in This Video

An Instagram user by the name of hydrotrx appears to have one of the first 2021 Ram 1500 TRX pickups, a Hydro Blue example, sitting in their driveway. We can’t independently verify why this person has the TRX, which isn’t yet on sale—the Michigan state manufacturer license plate would suggest they’re an employee of Fiat Chrysler, a supplier, or an aftermarket manufacturer working up parts for the new super truck. Regardless, in the spirit of sharing, they’ve decided to fire it up so we can hear exactly how 702 horsepower sounds channeled underneath a truck bed and out a couple of big pipes. The initial verdict? Rowdy. Take a listen:

The sound is deep, guttural, and as the engine settles into its normal idle there’s a delicious hint of cam lope—just like most of the vehicles that share this basic engine. The TRX might have one of the lowest blown 6.2-liter Hellcat outputs on sale right now, but barely, and it doesn’t sound neutered in any respect. To any devoted V-8 fan, this is the sort of sound that a second-generation Ford F-150 Raptor could only dream about emitting from its tailpipes.
