On reflection, the theme was quite the giveaway today, but I had it in my head that we were looking for candy bar names.
After finding plenty of non-game words I took two hints, with CUBE and BROWN making it clear what we were searching for. The spangram took me a couple of attempts to put together, but this was nothing compared to what was to come.
Thanks to my unique meat-eating vegan diet, I spend plenty of time in health food stores, but I’ve never heard of TURBINADO sugar (I use Stevia, health food fans) and spent a good five minutes attempting to form some kind of word from its constituent letters.
This is a level of difficulty I’d usually associate with a difficult Connections round rather than the easygoing Strands.

What is NYT Strands?
Strands is the NYT’s not-so-new-any-more word game, following Wordle and Connections. It’s now a fully fledged member of the NYT’s games stable that has been running for a year and which can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
