Final Fantasy 7 Remake Switch 2 Release Date Confirmed

September 12, 2025

We’ve known for a while that Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are headed to the Switch 2, and during today’s big Nintendo Direct livestream, we officially got the first date for one of those games. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade will arrive first on January 22, 2026, but we’ll have to wait longer for the second game since Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth doesn’t have a date yet.

The announcement confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade will have a physical and digital release. However, it’s unclear if Intergrade will feature a Game Key card or a full physical release with the entire game on a card.

Both of the Final Fantasy 7 remakes were originally released exclusively for PlayStation hardware, but times are changing for the franchise as Square Enix has begun transitioning towards multiplatform releases as part of its plan to secure long-term growth.

The final part of this trilogy is also in development, and producer Tetsuya Nomura recently said that Square Enix knows exactly when it will officially reveal the game.

Beyond these massive Final Fantasy games, several more JRPG games are on the way to Switch this year and in 2026. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles arrives first on September 30, Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will released on October 30, and Octopath Traveler 0 arrives on December 4.
