As a Sony fan, Sony’s effort with PS VR 2 is abysmal. Total lack of game development effort. The reason I purchased PSVR is because Sony development of games was way better than what I see with their new headset. They have done nothing. Only Capcom really has supported the headset with high effort to give reason to buy it. But even my support for Capcom is not enough to justify buying a PS5 and a PS VR 2.
As much as I don’t like Facebook. And yes. I still call them that. The Quest 3 murders what Sony is doing. Was it subsidized to kill competition in the stand alone space? Yep. Didn’t like that at all. But the things you can do with it should make Sony ashamed.
I can play good VR games. Good AR games, good indie and early access games. I’ve even side loaded Mame and other Android apps to the headset. I even have an app called Age of Joy that puts actual Arcade machines in my real space like they were there. Even gun games like Terminator, Lethal Enforcers, Time Crisis, etc, etc. It’s like having a virtual Arcade anywhere I want them. Pinball machines from Pinball FX VR anywhere. That’s not even mentioning the VR parts of Age of Joy or Pinball FX VR.
I can watch movies and TV, listen to music while doing something else. Things that Sony used to allow with movie watching on PSVR. But not their new headset. As much as I like the tech of PS VR 2, I’d never buy it in it’s current state. The fact that they didn’t even port their best games like Blood and Truth, Astrobot or Wipeout to it is just a joke. I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody.
