Google Pixel Watch 4 finds its way to a lucky customer early

October 2, 2025

Google unveiled the Pixel Watch 4 alongside the Pixel 10 lineup at its Made by Google event in August. While the phones went on sale later that month, the Pixel Watch 4 and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold are scheduled to reach retail stores only on October 8, 2025. However, at least one lucky buyer managed to get their Pixel Watch 4 early from a retailer.

Reddit user /thedelicatesnowflake shared his first impressions of the watch in a post. Since he used an iPhone previously, he couldn’t compare Google’s latest smartwatch to its predecessor. Still, he shares some early first impressions about the watch and its packaging. The eco-friendly box is “very well thought out and made nicely,” though it might not look that good from a distance.

The most surprising feedback was on the watch’s domed display.

Lastly I’m not a fan of the domed display. When the watch was powered off I thought that if I didn’t know about it I wouldn’t have noticed. With the display on you can tell immediately something is wrong. I hope I will get used to it, but it just looks like I’m always looking at it from a wrong angle. (unfortunately it’s not visible from pictures) Either I have stuff jumping out in the middle or there’s stuff hiding away on the far side if I look at it from an angle.

In our limited hands-on time with the watch at the August 20th launch event, we quite liked the domed display, as it gives all UI elements a floating look. But it seems the change might not be to everyone’s taste. Still, this is an early first impression of the user, and their opinion could change with time.

Your Pixel Watch 4 preorder could land early, too

The Redditor also extracted and uploaded all the watchface APKs from his Pixel Watch 4. However, since older Pixel Watches are still running on Android 15-based Wear OS 5, they don’t work properly. So, don’t bother sideloading it unless the Wear OS 6 update arrives for your existing Pixel Watch.

If you have placed your Pixel Watch 4 pre-order already, expect it to arrive on your doorstep early next week. Or, if you are lucky, it might just arrive before the weekend.
