The zombie theming of Marvel Snap’s next season is fitting for Halloween

As October kicks off, Second Dinner has revealed the theming of the next season of Marvel Snap. The season is called Undead Horde, and it’s fittingly themed around zombies as we approach Halloween and are hot off the heels of Marvel Zombies‘ release on Disney+.

As is the case with each new season of Marvel Snap, we can expect a whole lot of new cards to drop and for limited-time game modes to take place during the month. This month also introduces a whole new keyword mechanic called Horde to the collectible card game.

What should you expect from Marvel Snap’s Undead Horde season?

The Horde keyword, eight new cards, and more

Every card coming to Marvel Snap as part of the Undead Horde season is a zombie version of a well-known Marvel Comics character. Many of the cards feature a new keyword called Horde, serving as the basis for an all-new kind of deck build.

Playing a Horde card spawns a 0-energy, 0-power Zombie Horde card at another location, which players can then continue to power up. The new locations, Deadlands and Survivors’ Camp, can even spawn or additionally boost the Zombie Horde card.

Zombie Scarlet Witch is the main Season Pass character. She is a 3/2 card with an ability that reads, “After you play a card here, Horde +2.” Super Premium Season Pass owners will get a 1/1 Headpool card with the text “When this is destroyed, return it to your hand, then give all cards in your hand +1 Power.”

Below, you can see the other cards coming to Marvel Snap throughout the Undead Horde season, with their energy, power, and abilities all listed:

  • Zombie Captain Marvel: 3/3 – Activate: Destroy your other cards here to get +3 Power for each. Move to a location you’re losing.
  • Zombie Galacti: 7/4 – Star of the Game: Choose 6 other cards in your Deck. On Reveal: Transform those cards into copies of this.
  • Zombie Giant Man: 5/3 – On Reveal: Horde +1, then this gains power equal to your Zombie Hoard
  • Zombie Mister Fantastic: 2/2 – On Reveal: Horde +2. Activate: Give 4 of your created cards +1 Power.
  • Zombie Power Man: 2/4 – End of Turn: If you’re winning here, discard the leftmost card from your hand.
  • Zombie Sentry: 3/4 – On Reveal: Horde +1 for each of your cards at the right location.
  • Colonel America: 3/3 – Ongoing: Your other cards here have +1 Power for each turn you’ve discarded a card

Two limited-time modes will also be returning during this season. Sanctum Showdown will come back between October 15 and October 22, while the champion-based Grand Arena mode will get its second iteration between October 27 and November 3.

I’ve been playing Marvel Snap a bit less than I have historically due to some frustrating changes to this in-game economy. That said, Undead Horde does seem like one of the more interesting seasons for Marvel Snap in recent memory, so I think I’ll find myself playing this card game a bit more than usual in October.
