T-Mobile’s become quite the juggernaut over the past decade, pushing past rivals like Verizon and AT&T thanks to its reliable network, fresh features, and impressive prices. While the brand is known primarily for its phone plans, it has made some expansions over the past couple of years, diving into home internet service as well. The company currently offers 5G home service, along with fiber service as well.
And T-Mobile is looking to take things further in the next few years, even making changes to its leadership to make that happen. So if you thought the brand was going to rest on its laurels, think again. With that said, T-Mobile is now offering new hardware with its 5G home internet plans, delivering a new Wi-Fi 7 router for eligible plans.
New hardware at no cost
This new gateway will only be available to those that sign up for the “Amplified” and “All-In” plans. These plans are the more expensive offerings from the brand, featuring small perks beyond what the basic “Rely” plan offers. The internet speeds won’t be changing, but at least you can have the latest gear in your home or office if you need it. T-Mobile is also celebrating the occasion by offering a $300 Visa gift card to those that switch, starting on November 13.
While prices for home internet plans start at $50, you can get a discount if you’re a T-Mobile voice plan subscriber. T-Mobile’s home internet is a pretty good option if the coverage in your area is reliable. I’ve personally used the service in two different major cities and had both good and bad experiences. When it’s working well, you can use it for pretty much everything.
However, if you have specialized needs, like gaming, you might need something with better latency. But overall, my time with the service was pretty good. It was reliable, with maybe one small outage over the course of a year. I used the service for work, streaming movies, and even some light gaming over streaming as well. The best part is that there’s no installation needed. You just get the gateway in the mail, plug it in, and you’re good to go.
So, if you’ve been looking for a new home internet solution, it might be worth giving T-Mobile a try. Luckily, there is no contract with T-Mobile, so if you get it and don’t like the speed or the reliability, you can just return it. Just cancel the service and take the hardware to a local store. It’s as easy as that.
