We’ve seen innumerable improvements arrive in the Google Gemini app over the past few months. In recent days, we’ve seen the app improve significantly in generating videos, while Gemini Live interactions have also gotten better with a recent update. The Gemini app is now receiving a visual update that introduces different tones of existing colors, while also adding new elements.
As reported by 9to5Google, an update to the Google app has introduced bolder color schemes for both dark and light themes. As you can see in the comparison screenshots below, the black on the app’s homepage is much darker in the revised version, whereas the homepage adopts a grayer color when the light theme is enabled.

While a majority of the homepage elements get a bolder color, the app retains the older color scheme for the prompt box as well as conversations with the chatbot. The update is live on the Google app version 16.45.62 on my Pixel smartphone, with the folks at 9to5 also seeing the visual overhaul in the same version.
Say hello to ‘My Stuff’
The latest addition to the Gemini app is a section called “My Stuff” situated in the navigation drawer, with a preview of the last three Canvas, image, or video generations visible right from the navigation drawer. Opening My Stuff gives you access to all the generated media in one convenient location.
Elsewhere, the homepage features a new “Where should we start?” prompt attached to the Hi/Hello greeting, while the Gemini text at the top of the homepage also receives a size upgrade. Interestingly, the greeting now uses a black or white font color, replacing the familiar blue font color, which I’m personally not a big fan of.
Meanwhile, the design refresh sees the suggestion chips (Create image, Write, Build, Deep Research, and Create video) placed vertically. Gemini has renamed the Write and Build chips to Write anything and Build an idea, respectively, thereby making better use of the available real estate.
Moving to the conversation screen, the account switcher that used to live at the top right of the screen has been replaced with a dedicated button to start a new chat. Additionally, tapping the conversation name at the top pulls up a dropdown from the bottom of the screen with options to share, pin, rename, or delete the conversation, as shown in the screenshot above.
These are welcome design upgrades to the Gemini app, though the inconsistent nature of the homepage design may not be to everyone’s liking.
