YouTube Music rolls out a time-saving playlist feature but not for Android users

YouTube Premium is one of the most value-for-money entertainment subscriptions because you don’t have to buy another subscription to stream music. However, this isn’t the only reason behind YouTube Music’s success. Many users prefer it because of its solid recommendation engine and other useful features. If you’re one of those people, you have one more reason to love YouTube Music.

YouTube Music has started rolling out a new feature to help you save time when finding your favorite songs in a playlist. It’s not all good news, though. The new playlist feature in YouTube Music seems to be limited to only a few people and not everyone.

How does YouTube Music’s new playlist feature save you time?

As first spotted by Reddit user u/xerus9915, YouTube has started rolling out a new playlist search feature to help users quickly find and play their favorite tracks. Google has quietly added an option called “Find in playlist” to the overflow menu, which appears when you click the three-dot menu on a playlist page. It appears just below the “Shuffle play” option, so you don’t need to scroll to the bottom to find it.

You don’t need to scroll through a long playlist to stream your favorite song. Instead, you can use the “Find in playlist” option and type the name and play the song. However, don’t expect to see it on YouTube Music’s Android client right now. According to comments on the Reddit thread, it seems that Google hasn’t started rolling out the feature to Android users.

Then, who is it available for, you ask? Well, the Reddit user found it on YouTube Music, version 8.45.3 on iOS. But don’t get too excited if you have an iPhone. Google appears to be A/B testing this feature, so a majority of users won’t see it on their iPhone devices.

We’ve installed YouTube Music version 8.45.3 on our iPhones, but couldn’t see the playlist feature appear upon tapping the three-dot menu. Our friends over at Android Authority report the same availability issue.

If you’re one of those lucky users who got access to it, there is one small caveat you need to be careful about. While you can search through a playlist, there is no such option to find your favorite track that way on the Radio playlists saved in your library.

The good news is that there is always a possibility of Google extending it to more places on YouTube Music, just like how Spotify introduced the “Exclude track from your taste profile” option to playlists first and then later added it to individual songs.
