Yes the hardware is better in every way except it doesn’t target 4K. The new CPU is better and more efficient then the old bottlenecked Jaguar. The SSD AND I/O throughout is better then what’s available in X. They used The RAM amount they used because they are only targeting 1440p. The One X used its specs to brute force 4K/60. If that’s not the target why would it be compared to it. You already know one of the biggest selling points of this gen is the speedy load times. They are now designing around those. Notice also that most of MS 1st Party games that were announced are launching outside of the cross gen window. MS will still technically be keeping their promise when all readily available 1st party games launch cross gen but most like Forza and Fable probably won’t. So this will be even more important. While One X may look better to some people on paper. The S is a much more balanced system with a specific goal in mind. Step outside of your bias and do a deep search and you’ll find that a lot of devs were developing for an Anaconda profile spec that mimicked what they thought S would come with. This instead of actual Series S dev kits and the problems caused while developing for what was a mystery target caused a lot of negative sentiment with the developers who didn’t get a dev kit. All this smoke is just that smoke. Enjoy your console of choice and let it go. Today will be a good day. My prediction is 399 digital and 499. Regardless both of these consoles will be mine at launch just like last time. I also may be watching the showcase from the GameStop parking lot in case pre orders open immediately. If you can I suggest you do the same because it’s looking like supply will be tiiiiiight.
