Netflix puts Red Dead Redemption in your pocket with Undead Nightmare

December 2, 2025

What’s happened? Red Dead Redemption is coming to mobile as part of the Netflix Games catalog, giving subscribers a console-era classic on their phones. The 2010 Western and its Undead Nightmare expansion are both bundled in.

  • According to Netflix, Red Dead Redemption launches on mobile through Netflix Games on December 2 for active subscribers.
  • The release includes the full John Marston campaign plus the standalone Undead Nightmare expansion in a single download.
  • You can pre-register the game now on your mobile device and play it via the Netflix app at launch, with no ads or in-app purchases.

This is important because: Netflix is not just padding its games tab, it is dropping one of Rockstar’s most acclaimed titles straight into a subscription many people already pay for. It is a clear signal that Netflix Games wants prestige releases.

  • Red Dead Redemption was a major Game of the Year winner in 2010, and having it in Netflix Games instantly lifts the service’s profile.
  • Bringing a full story-driven Western to phones helps Netflix prove it can host more than quick, throwaway mobile distractions.
  • Keeping the base game and Undead Nightmare together, without extra purchases layered on top, preserves the feel of a complete release.

Why should I care? If you already have Netflix, Red Dead Redemption on mobile is basically a bonus game waiting in the app. It is a straightforward way to finally play (or replay) a classic without digging out older hardware.

  • You can ride across fictional versions of the American Southwest and Mexico in short sessions, knocking out story beats or side jobs whenever you have a few spare minutes.
  • Dead Eye, the slow-motion targeting system, turns quick firefights into stylish set pieces that still work well on a touchscreen.
  • Once the credits roll, Undead Nightmare adds a pulpy zombie twist, with new missions, weapons, and the hunt for the Four Horses of the Apocalypse.
  • All of these, available on your mobile. If you’re not a fan of westerns, you can check out the best games available on Netflix now.

Okay, so what’s next? Red Dead Redemption is available for pre-registration now, so the main thing is to get it queued before launch. After that, it is just another icon in the Netflix app, sitting next to your usual shows and movies.

  • Pre-register on the App Store for iOS or the Play Store on Android, and download on release day, December 2.
  • On release day, you will find and play Red Dead Redemption through the Games section of the Netflix app, as long as you are signed in with a valid subscription.
  • If Red Dead Redemption performs well, it gives Netflix one more reason to keep chasing big-name ports, which could turn the games row into something you actually check instead of swiping past.
