You can finally play Red Dead Redemption on your phone, thanks to Netflix

What’s happened? A couple of weeks ago, we reported that Red Dead Redemption would be joining the list of games on Netflix. Now, the company has delivered on that promise by making the legendary Wild-West adventure playable on both Android and iOS for the first time.

  • The full original story comes bundled with the fan-favorite expansion Undead Nightmare, so you get the Western action and the zombie-horror twist.
  • The game is optimized for touchscreen controls, so all the bounty-hunting, horseback rides, saloon poker, and duels now work with taps and swipes.
  • You only need a Netflix subscription to download and play with no extra fees, ads, or additional purchases.

This is important because: For years, Red Dead Redemption was a console or PC-only classic. Now, thanks to Netflix Games, the mobile build keeps the full single-player campaign intact, including the entire Undead Nightmare expansion with all the original missions, side-quests, open-world exploration, and that moody western soundtrack.

  • With touch controls, you can ditch the controller and play through gunfights, horseback chases, and standoffs on mobile.
  • Netflix is also rolling out games on its TV app, letting you play titles on the big screen using your phone as the controller.

Why should I care? If you’ve ever wanted to relive one of gaming’s greatest Western stories without a console nearby, this release makes it easy.

  • Those who enjoy gaming during daily commute or on a vacation, Red Dead Redemption on mobile brings the full adventure at no extra cost beyond your Netflix subscription.
  • For longtime fans, it’s a chance to replay John Marston’s journey on a portable device and for newcomers, it’s a smooth entry into a legendary title.

For a game this iconic to land on phones at no extra cost, Netflix just made its gaming line-up a lot harder to ignore.
