Google Photos has grown considerably outside its original framework as a place to just store and manage your photos. Over the past few years, we’ve seen a wide range of new features surface in the app, with even more arriving after Google’s interest in AI. And while some of the features can be hit-and-miss, for the most part, many of the new additions have been quite interesting.
Remix is something that Google has been working on for quite some time, and is a tool that allows users to bring their images to life in new ways using powerful AI tools. While Remix did get a proper release this summer, we’re now finally seeing it arrive to more people thanks to a wider release in more regions that now includes the US (via 9to5Google).
These are worth trying out
So what can Remix do? Well, it provides a few new ways to stylize your photos with the help of generative AI. Google Photos will provide four different options, with 3D animation, Anime, Sketch, and Comic book as options. Once you select one of these options, it will transform your selected photos, applying the new style.
We’ve provided some examples of what this will look like, which come courtesy of Google. As you can tell, it’s not something that’s meant to be entirely serious, but does provide a way to make photos a bit more fun. In addition to Remix being made available to those in the US, those in Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, and Turkey will also have access.
You just create
For the most part, accessing Remix isn’t all that difficult. You just head into the Google Photos app, find “Create new”, and then just hit the “Remix” section. If you explore the other tools in Google Photos, you’ll also be able to create videos from still photos, animations, collages, and even highlight videos.
These tools really do manage to take the hard work out of making something exciting. If you haven’t given Google Photos a try in quite some time, we recommend checking it out. We think that you’ll find the experience quite a bit different from what you last saw. Of course, if you’re not a fan of Google Photos, there are some powerful alternatives that you can try.
