In games these days many assets are replicated dozens of times over in order to enable them to be drawn into a scene quicker using the slower standard HDDs.
But with the PS5’s SSD being so super fast, then that will make file sizes smaller, but still kind of large because, although they don’t need to replicate assets, the assets themselves will be much larger in size because of better quality. So I don’t think we’ll see file sizes for TRUE next-gen games become that much bigger at all. Yes? No?
Can someone more technically minded give their take please? I am an amateur with my understanding of this.
