When it announced the Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7 Plus earlier this year, Samsung said its new tablets would include a “Second Screen” functionality that would allow you to use them as a secondary display with your Samsung PC. Android Police’s Max Weinbach has now provided some more information on the feature.
Weinbach says Second Screen — known internally at Samsung as “Sidekick” — will offer broadly the same functionality as Apple’s Sidecar. Sidecar is a feature Apple released with macOS Catalina last year. It allows you to use an iPad as a secondary Mac display. If you have access to an Apple Pencil, Sidecar also enables you to use the stylus to write and draw in macOS apps.

Similarly, Second Screen would allow you to use your Tab S7 or Tab S7 Plus as a secondary Windows display. It would also let you use an S Pen with Windows, effectively allowing the Tab S7 and S7 Plus to double as Wacom tablets. When using the S Pen with Windows, it will also reportedly support different pressure levels and orientations.
At the moment, it’s unclear if the feature is an extension of Samsung’s ongoing partnership with Microsoft, or if the company plans to limit its availability to Samsung PCs only. But what we do know is Samsung aims to release the feature soon, with a footnote in the company’s press release noting, “Second Screen will be available later this year.”
