If you’re finding Google’s free tiers just aren’t cutting it for you, but you also don’t want to pay $20/mo for the tech giant’s Google AI Pro plan, the Mountain View, California-based company has something for you.
Google just made its ‘sweet spot’ plan available in 35 new countries and territories, including the US.
This comes roughly four months after the plan’s last expansion.
Up until now, users in the US only had two main plan options to take advantage of greater access to Google’s advanced AI features:
- Google AI Pro: $20/month.
- Google AI Ultra: $250/month.
Now, with Google AI Plus finally available in the US, users have a toned-down offering that only costs $8/month.
Although not comparable to AI Pro’s offerings, Google AI Plus strikes the perfect balance.
Everything under the hood
Compared to the free tier, AI Plus offers “enhanced access” to Gemini 3 Pro, Deep Research, image generation with Nano Banana Pro, and even video generation features with limited access to Veo 3.1 Fast.
Across Flow and Whisk, free users get 100 monthly credits. AI Plus users get 200 monthly credits, while AI Pro users get 1,000. The tier also guarantees access to image-to-video creation with Veo 3 in Whisk, while the free tier only offers the option to “generate and animate images.”
In addition to the AI-powered features in NotebookLM, the new tier also unlocks Gemini in Gmail, Vids, Chrome, and other Workspace apps (this was previously limited to AI Pro and higher users).
Lastly, and the primary reason for many that get a paid plan, AI Plus comes with 200GB of total cloud storage for Photos, Drive, and Gmail. The free tier, for reference, offers only 15GB of total cloud storage, while the $20/mo AI Pro plan offers 2TB of total cloud storage.
In the US, the new plan starts at $7.99/mo. As an introductory offer, AI Plus is currently priced at $3.99 per month for the first two months.
