The Pixel 10a’s colorful new look just leaked, and I love where Google is going with this

What you need to know

  • According to a new leak, four Pixel 10a shades are coming — Obsidian, Fog, Lavender, and a bold Berry.
  • It sticks closely to the Pixel 9a’s look, with flat sides, rounded corners, and a flush camera module instead of a bulky bar.
  • With official teasers and detailed renders out, the Pixel 10a is basically in the open ahead of its February 18 announcement date.

Google’s not exactly keeping secrets this time around. Fresh leaks and official teasers make it clear the upcoming Pixel 10a is close to breaking cover, and much of the buzz isn’t about specs so much as how it looks. After Google confirmed a February 18 launch date, a steady stream of leaked renders has given us a near-complete preview of the phone’s design and color finishes well before its launch.

The Pixel 10a closely follows the visual blueprint set by the Pixel 9a: flat edges, rounded corners, and a camera module that sits flush with the body rather than the protruding bar on higher-end Pixels. So yes, if you’ve seen the 9a, you’ll recognize its successor at a glance.

But where the leaks really paint a picture is in the phone’s color palette. Android Headlines recently shared official-looking renders showing four distinct hues: a deep Obsidian black, a soft Fog off-white with a subtle green tint, a muted Lavender, and a punchy Berry red.

Berry is reminiscent of the bold red Google used on its Nest Cam hardware. It’s a departure from the more conservative shades typical of budget Pixels.

These colors suggest Google wants to add more personality to the A-series, which hasn’t always been the case before. The Pixel 9a’s colors were more reserved (Iris, Peony, Porcelain, Obsidian), but this time there’s a mix of subtle and bold choices, so buyers have more fun options without it feeling too flashy.

There’s more to the Pixel 10a than just new colors. Earlier rumors claim it will have a 6.3-inch 120Hz display, 8GB of RAM, the same Tensor G4 chip as the last model, a 5,100mAh battery, and two cameras on the back. Early price rumors suggest it will cost about the same as the Pixel 9a, but we’ll know for sure at launch.

Android Central’s Take

With so many phones having similar specs, the Pixel 10a’s color options stand out. It gives people choices that feel more personal without a higher price. Personally, I’m pumped to see a bold option like Berry alongside more subtle shades like Fog. This focus on style helps the phone feel more unique right out of the box. I still want to see how it stacks up once real performance and camera results land, but on looks and user appeal alone, Google might be onto something.
