We’re still waiting for Qi2 to take off on Android, and the Pixel 10 seemed to signal that it could happen relatively soon. That said, we haven’t seen other major Android phones integrate built-in Qi2 magnets aside from the Pixel 10 series. That’s why it feels like there’s a lot riding on Samsung to take the hint and bring it to the Galaxy S26. However, whether that’s actually the case is a bit up in the air right now, and it’s really not looking good.
The latest rumors suggest that the Galaxy S26 series won’t actually feature built-in Qi2 magnets and instead rely on external cases to get the job done. The Galaxy S26 will probably miss out on built-in Qi2 magnets
After months of speculation, we’re finally getting firm rumors about the presence (or lack) of built-in Qi2 magnets on the Galaxy S26 series. Many of us were admittedly hoping to finally get it on Samsung’s most popular smartphone family, but reliable leakers are now suggesting we may be disappointed once again.
Per Ice Universe on X, it looks like the Galaxy S26 series will rely on cases for magnetic attachments to Qi2 accessories and chargers.

While that may seem disappointing, the reason may be the presence of the S Pen on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This seemed to cause issues on previous Ultra models, with phones warning users that magnetic accessories may block or interfere with the S Pen. It stands to reason, then, that Samsung may have had to choose between the S Pen and built-in magnets.
That said, the lack of magnets could have some benefits. Rumors point to a slimmer Galaxy S26 Ultra, which likely wouldn’t be the case if magnets were included.
Also, rumors point to Samsung improving wireless charging speeds on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, including Qi2.2 speeds of up to 25W. Of course, you’d need a compatible Qi2 charger and a magnetic case to take full advantage of it, but we always suggest using a case to protect your phone. For many, this may not be a big deal if they were going to buy a case anyway.
Of course, Samsung has not yet officially announced charging specs and capabilities for the Galaxy S26, and we expect to hear more later this month, when Samsung is rumored to launch its upcoming flagships.
