Resident Evil Village May Come To PS4/Xbox One, Offers More Freedom

Resident Evil Village is coming next year, and although the game will be coming to next-generation systems, Capcom is doing its best to also release the game on PS4 and Xbox One. It’s shaping up to be one of the most unusual games in the series to date, with more freedom than its predecessor and the return of protagonist Ethan.

Capcom makes no promises about the PS4 or Xbox One versions, but says it’s doing its best to bring the game to those platforms. This information was shared during Capcom’s Tokyo Game Show stream on September 25.

Set several years after the events of Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village sees Ethan living in relative peace, but it’s interrupted by longtime Resident Evil staple Chris Redfield–who we also briefly saw at the end of Resident Evil 7. His motives aren’t clear, but the werewolf creatures we’ve seen teased could have something to do with it.

In contrast to the cramped house of Resident Evil 7, the environments in Resident Evil Village will be more open and offer more freedom. It also sounds like puzzles and navigation won’t be as linear as in the past, where you are able to come up with your own solutions to problems. Could the days of color-coded keys be behind us?

Resident Evil Village is coming in 2021. As of now, it’s confirmed for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, PS5, and PC.
