Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 has finally arrived, and not a moment too soon after nearly four months of Season 1. Season 2 offers an all-new battle pass featuring Bugs Bunny and Dwayne “The Foundation” Johnson, a loot pool that’s almost entirely refreshed, a new Rivalry system, and a season-long showdown between the Ice King and the Foundation that’ll award players with free cosmetics for completing weekly challenges.
Let’s dive in.
Rivalries

Around the Battle Royale island you’ll find Rivalry Screens–machines that will allow you to declare another player to be your personal enemy for that match. Defeating a rival will award a special in-game currency for special loot, and the more rivals you beat, the more loot you’ll be able to unlock.
If you’re the sort of player who’d rather not draw attention to themselves, Epic says that if you never use the Rivalry Screens, you’ll be much less likely to be targeted. The flip side of that is also true–you’ll be targeted a lot more if you consistently use the Rivalry Screens every match.
Season Showdown

“Showdown” is the name of the season for a reason, and it’s because it’s time for one of Fortnite’s old villains, the Ice King from Chapter 1, to battle with one of Fortnite’s old heroes, the Foundation from Chapters 2 and 3. It seems the Ice King had the Foundation frozen in a block of ice for all these years, and now he’s mad about it.
When players first log into Fortnite in Season 2, they’ll be prompted to pick which side of this conflict to support: Team Foundation or Team Ice King. The team that defeats the most rivals over the course of the season will earn a bonus style for the winning character for all battle pass owners. Everybody who has the pass will get a reward, but what the reward is will be determined by this showdown.
Each week of the Showdown will offer a challenge that awards a new cosmetic. Week 1’s challenge is pretty simple: get 50 kills against enemy players to earn a pair of kicks. You can track the Showdown and your personal quest progress on the Showdown website here. Registering on the site will grant you a spray. Earning top marks on the leaderboards each week awards real-life stuff, like an RTX 5080 graphics card.
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1 Battle Pass

The Chapter 7 Season 2 battle pass includes eight new skins (all of which are in the image above) and is structured just like the last one. All eight skins are available in the main part of the pass from levels 1-100, and you can unlock them in any order, aside from the tier 100 skin, which is Bugs Bunny. You can only claim him after getting everything else on the pass.
Buying the new battle pass will instantly unlock the new Ice King skin. Other highlights include The Foundation (Reforged), which once again carries the likeness of Dwayne Johnson, Elite Jules, Squibbly the squid boy, and Lady Windfrost. In addition to those skins and their accompanying pickaxes, back blings, and Gliders, this pass includes a pair of new kicks and an adorable new sidekick.
An actual new exclusive???

This pass includes the first new exclusive item on a Fortnite pass in about a year and a half–but only for a week. Anyone who buys the Season 2 battle pass before March 27 will receive the Stealth Tech style of the new Foundation (Reforged) skin and all the accompanying cosmetics. All the other many styles for The Foundation (Reforged) will be available all season and will not be exclusive.
New movement and weapons in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2

After all the drama related to Shockwave Grenades last season, Epic has once again vaulted the Battle Royale staple to start Season 2. In its place we’ve got a pair of entirely new movement items–the Overdrive grenade, and the Skyline Deployer. The Overdrive Grenade is similar to a Shockwave in that it’ll launch you into the air, but it grants you bonus speed and you’ll take fall damage if you knock yourself off a cliff with it. So be careful with this thing.
The Skyline Deployer, meanwhile, will allow you to attach a zipline to any surface, or even just a balloon floating in the air.
Later in the season we’ll get the Seven Power Gloves, which sound exactly like a new version of Chapter 5’s Nitro Fists.
Nearly every gun from Season 1 is gone, with only the Iron Pump and Twin Hammer shotguns returning. The new loot pool includes three entirely new weapons–the Vector 7 DMR, the Chaos Reloader Shotgun, and the Bouncing Boomstick explosive–alongside a selection of older guns, like the Nemesis AR and Thunder Burst SMG.
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 map changes

There are four new named locations this season, all replacing existing spots. Bumpy Bay in the West is now Squibbly Shores, Clawsy Lodge has been replaced with Frigid Fortress, Classified Canyon has been retrofitted as New Sanctuary (a reference to the Chapter 3 map), and Lethal Labs has been taken over by the Dark Voyager and is now Dark Dominion.
You drive the battle bus now

Each round of Battle Royale, one player will randomly be picked to drive the Battle Bus and decide where it flies. It’s a little mini-game, basically.
