A new season of Fortnite means big changes to the Battle Royale island–and after nearly four months of Season 1, the map refresh is extremely welcome. The biggest alterations in Chapter 7 Season 2 are the new biomes, which include a snowy region in the north that replaces Clawsy Lodge, and a large beach-themed area in the west where Bumpy Bay used to be.
In addition to the new biomes, two other locations have been taken over by the two dueling characters, both of which are on the new battle pass, who are having their big showdown this season. Lethal Labs has been taken over by the Dark Voyager and is now Dark Dominion, and the Foundation set up shop at Classified Canyon, which is now New Sanctuary. The old Sanctuary, in case you were wondering, was a large base next to the bay on the Chapter 3 island.

As you can see from the map, the snowy area of the map is pretty enormous, with the new Frigid Fortress taking up nearly as much area as Battlewood Boulevard does. The Squibbly Shores area is similarly big, and actually represents a small expansion to the island’s land area, since most of the sandy parts were just ocean during Season 1. And, as you can see, the New Sanctuary and Dark Dominion spots haven’t changed nearly as much.
On top of the new POIs, there are various smaller additions throughout the map, including new Sticks and Pizza Pit restaurants. And Sus Studios and Painted Palms have started working on a new movie, as all the movie sets on those lots have been replaced with new ones.
Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the new spots.
