What should you watch this weekend? It might not be the eternal question, but it is an old one.
There are too many choices on streaming and faced with them, it’s easy to fall into a comfort watch. But even the most comfortable things can wear thin after a while.
So I’ve done the work of sorting through what’s new and by giving you less to choose from, the more likely you might be to watch one of them.
Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat (Prime Video)
If you’ve ever walked into a new job and immediately felt like you had made a huge mistake, then you know how Anthony feels in “Company Retreat.” As with Ronald who appeared in “Jury Duty,” he has no idea that the entire situation around him is staged and that everyone else is an actor. Anthony does his best to navigate a company offisite event at the family-owned hot sauce company he just joined.
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man (Netflix)
“Peaky Blinders” the show may have ended, but this movie truly wraps things up. Cillian Murphy returns as Tommy Shelby who shows back up in Birmingham with a mission to put an end to a Nazi plot.
Wicked: For Good (Peacock)
With an intermission of a year, the second half of “Wicked” premieres on Peacock. Glinda and Elphaba are farther apart than ever with Glinda an official spokesperson for the Wizard and Elphaba fighting for animal rights.
BlackBerry (Netflix)
There is far more comedy and drama in the history of the BlackBerry than you could ever conceive of. It’s on the pages of the book “Losing the Signal: The Untold Story Behind the Extraordinary Rise and Spectacular Fall of BlackBerry” and also in this dramatized version of it.
The Rise of the Red Hot Chili Peppers: Our Brother, Hillel (Netflix)
Most of the members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers are well-known on their own, except for the original guitarist Hillel Slovack who died in 1988. This documentary examines the band’s early days with him.
Imperfect Women (Apple TV)
The thrills of the Araminta Hall novel of the same name permeate this series that stars Kerry Washington, Elisabeth Moss, and Kate Mara, as three friends who have their decades-long friendship tested after a murder.
