As much as I love reading on my phone and PC, the Kobo Libra Colour is the device I go with at the end of the day when I want to give my eyes a rest. Sure, I could always just put away the screens and participate in some other activity that doesn’t heavily rely on using my eyes, like listening to music or going for a nice walk, but there’s just too much to read in a day and not enough time to do it.
The Libra Colour not only looks good, but feels good in the hand too. The physical buttons to turn pages is a nice bonus, and the pop of color the screen provides gives content just a touch of warmth to keep it even more engaging when there are accompanying visuals. And while the Kobo Libra Colour is a fine device, the $250 price tag might have you looking for other options.
A solid discount makes it worth looking at
Right now, you can grab the Kobo Libra Colour with a solid discount that drops it down to $210. Sure, it’s not the cheapest e-reader by any means, but I can promise that you won’t be disappointed by the experience. If you’re someone who loves to read books or websites, the Kobo Libra Colour is going to be right up your alley.
When it comes to the hardware, it features a color e-ink display that looks crisp. Naturally, the immediate allure here is that you get some color with this screen, but we have to warn you, it’s not going to be as exciting as your phone or tablet. But it’s good enough to add some life to your favorite graphic novels, comics, and manga.
It also has an adjustable backlight, just in case you want to read at night or anywhere the lighting isn’t ideal. The e-reader can easily last a few weeks on a single charge, and you can charge the device using USB-C. When it comes to storage, the device has 32GB, which should be enough for most people.
You can also use a stylus to take notes, which can be convenient when you’re on the go. The IPX8 rating also makes it quite durable against moisture, so feel free to take it with you to the pool or even while you bathe if you want to get in some additional reading time. For the most part, this e-reader is an absolute winner in my eyes.
Perhaps the only thing that might interfere with your purchase is if you have your digital content on a different platform. Since the Kobo Libra Colour uses its own platform, you will need to repurchase any books you already have if it’s not a Kobo product. Of course, it will take time to invest, but you can always link your account to your local library and borrow books on the Libra Colour.
