“New releases for stalwart Wii U supporters are a few and far between. Every title that I’ve mentioned here is either available now or coming to Switch in the future, which is brilliant – if you’ve never played them of course. But to me, it feels like Nintendo is choosing the easy cash grab instead of trying to match its magnificent output on Wii U. ”
That sums it up well for me. It always felt like they were removing value from my Wii U purchase, while delivering me no value on my Switch purchase. And while there are still some great titles I’ve enjoyed on my Switch, I don’t know what Nintendo has been doing. It feels fortunate for them that the Wii U failed, because if it hadn’t then the Switch would be suffering a helluva lot more dry spells for unique content. Sadly not unique for me, but unique enough for the many others who hadn’t bought into the Wii U at least. And then yea, full price for those games to boot.
I’ve been disappointed with Nintendo’s output on the device, tight lipped nature on a lot of games that were clearly announced WAY too early, over-pricing of titles, and complete neglect of Switch system features (my kingdom for folders!) I’m glad so many others have enjoyed their Switch, but it bums me out that I’ve never felt I could count myself among them.
