Motorola has been making foldable phones for a few years now, and despite Samsung’s foldable devices always taking the spotlight, it’s Motorola that’s now in pole position with a staggering 50% market share in the US. This news probably comes as a bit of a surprise, but it makes complete sense.
Motorola not only delivers products that hit all the right marks, but it’s also not afraid to try new things. Last year, Motorola not only debuted the Razr and Razr+, but it also debuted a more premium model with the Razr Ultra. Sure, it’s not going to be for everyone, but at least the brand is offering things that the competition isn’t.
Will the Razr Ultra break out this year?
And while we already know a few things about the brand’s upcoming devices, we’re now getting new visuals for the Razr Ultra set to debut this year. The images come from XpertPick, working with OnLeaks to give us our best look yet at the phone, along with new details that some might find surprising.
From the looks of it, or at least what’s been presented, the new phone pretty much looks identical to the current model, and even shares some of the same hardware dimensions, with the report sharing that the upcoming model will feature a large 4-inch outer display, along with a 7-inch inner screen.
Now, we’re all for change, but sticking with the same design isn’t a bad thing here considering how sleek it looks. However, one change that many might not like is that the phone will actually be just a touch thicker, coming in at 7.8mm when unfolded, and 15.8mm when folded.
If you’re curious how that compares to the current model, that version measures in at 7.2mm unfolded and 15.7mm folded. Although this looks big on paper, there’s a pretty good chance that most people won’t even notice when they have this new model in hand. With that said, the added thickness might have been necessary in order to accommodate improvements to the internal hardware.
Of course, it’s really all going to come down to whether Motorola can make noticeable changes from the previous model. It was a good phone, but the price was just too high, and we wished that the battery life was better. Furthermore, Motorola’s AI features weren’t really anything to write home about, and it even featured a button for it, so we’d hope that it would do more.
There’s a pretty good chance that we won’t have to wait long to find out. But here’s hoping for the best.
