Another day, and sadly, another problem with Android Auto. If you’re someone who relies on local music files to add some extra fire to your Spotify playlists, you’ll want to tune in. Apparently, local files are now being omitted from Spotify playlists when connected to Android Auto.
This was reported by a user on Reddit and was picked up by Android Authority. And at least for the time being, it doesn’t really seem to be all that widespread, with just a couple of people chiming in at the time of this article going up.
We still don’t like to see these problems
We’ve done our own research, and it doesn’t look like any more folks have chimed in across the internet. So, from what we can see, this could be a very specific issue. Naturally, we aren’t downplaying the problem, and if you have experienced it, we urge you to leave a comment.
You can always try reinstalling the app and doing the usual troubleshooting steps, like clearing the app’s cache, but that doesn’t seem to have an effect on the problem. Although this may be minor, we still don’t like to see problems with Android Auto. Most recently, Galaxy S26 and Pixel users have been suffering from poor connectivity.
It’s the kind of problem you don’t want to have when things have been working seamlessly for years. While Google has yet to issue a statement on the issue, it has rolled out an update that fixes the problem. As far as what could be causing it, many online think that it has to do with Android’s Advanced Protection feature.
But, if you’ve been having problems connecting to your Android Auto head unit without unlocking your device, now’s going to be a good time to get everything updated on your phone. As for the Spotify issue, there’s a good chance that you might just have to hold tight if you’ve been affected.
There’s a chance that a Spotify update might be just the thing needed in order to get things working again. But, we’ll just have to wait and see to find out.
