Despite Google’s Find Hub only being around since 2025, the idea of a location service from Google has been around for much longer, evolving over a decade since it was first released in 2013. Since then, it has taken on new names, while eventually reaching its current form.
During that time, the features it offers have been enhanced, and it’s even changed its look and feel. Regardless of how it will continue to evolve, if you’re someone that owns an Android device or associated accessories, you’ll know how important Google’s Find Hub service can be when it’s working.
A necessary change
You can currently track a number of popular devices like phones, tablets, and smartwatches, but if you go to the Find Hub website, you’ll notice that some devices are absent. The good news is that Google is now adding support for more devices through its Find Hub website with the ability to track smart tags and audio products, according to 9to5Google.
Just to be clear, this is something new for the Find Hub website. The app isn’t changing or getting any new upgrades. With that said, this change is going to be an important one, considering that if you ever happen to lose a device or need to locate one, your first and most convenient option is pulling up the browser to start tracking process.
You can head to the website by navigating to https://www.google.com/android/find/ in order to see all the devices associated with your Google account. 9to5Google shares that this update should be rolling out now, so when you navigate to the website, you should see the changes if you have any compatible devices.
Things are shaping up nicely
Most recently, the Find Hub made changes to shed a layer of security, making it more convenient to track your own devices. It did this by removing the need to enter a PIN or biometric authentication. However, there will still be one layer of protection because you will still need to unlock your device in order to gain access to this data.
But perhaps the most meaningful change to Find Hub is altering the way it’s set up, enabling more devices to join the network for more efficient tracking. While Find Hub is a great idea in practice, it isn’t as powerful as the options you’d find from competitors, which is surprising considering how large the Android network is. Naturally, things will continue to improve, and we can’t wait to see where things go.
